Jewellery Summer School - 29th July to 1st August 2023
Come and spend four wonderful days making jewellery in a studio full of fantastic tools!
We will be covering a wide range of jewellery techniques from bangles, rings and chain making to various stone setting techniques, Keum Boo (adding 24k gold to silver), fold forming, casting scrap silver into ingots to recycle through the rolling mill and using a hydraulic press to create hollow forms, making the Summer School perfect for everyone from complete beginners upwards. The small group setting with a maximum of 8 students will ensure that you get the attention you need to help you create beautiful jewellery - and learn wonderful techniques to use to continue creating afterwards!
Complete beginners will be eased into the wonderful world of jewellery making with a simple ring or bangle, and after that lots of example projects (and help!) will be available for inspiration. For those who already have some experience, this is your opportunity to learn the techniques you've always meant to add to your repertoire or to catch up on workshop topics that you have missed, and to do so at a fantastic workshop fee too.
If there is a particular technique that you would like to cover then it is best to email me before booking to make sure it is something we can cover in the Summer School.
A day's Keum Boo workshop is usually £125. The Spinner Ring workshop is usually £75. A two-day course on learning to use the rolling mill, creating hollow forms or perfecting your sawing techniques is usually £180. Four days private tuition is usually £540.
The four-day Summer School workshop fee is £300.
Tea, coffee, biscuits and cakes are included in the workshop fee. Please bring a packed lunch with you.
The Summer School can be paid for in two installments of £150 by arrangement, with the balance paid no later than 4 weeks before the start of the course i.e. by 30th June. To do this, choose bank transfer as your payment method and send me an email!

Details of the best materials to use in the class will be emailed before the workshop so that you can organise your own materials if you wish but I will have plenty for you to choose from. Cost of the silver is determined by weight. Gold can also be ordered for you, but this will need to be organised by 7th July at the latest.
Tools and Equipment
The workshop fee includes use of all the tools and equipment needed. All workshops include worksheets to take home with you and discuss tools, equipment, materials and health and safety considerations.
Cancellations
Cancellations of workshop places and private tuition bookings within four weeks of the event will forfeit the workshop fee/private tuition deposit unless I am able to find someone to take your place. Please let me know as soon as possible if you are unable to attend.
